I'm sure almost everyone has heard of Restaurant.com.  Their amazing deals on restaurant gift certificates are well-known.  If you don't know how they work, here is a brief overview.  Visit their website and search for restaurants in your area.  They will primarily be smaller, local establishments and not larger national chains.  Different restaurants might have different deals, though most will have a $25 gift certificate which can usually be purchased for $10.  Each restaurant has specific restrictions or requirements in connection with their gift certificate.  The certificates expire in one year.

We have been using Restaurant.com for over a year.  Overall, we have found it to be a money-saving experience which has also allowed us to try several restaurants we might not have otherwise tried.  We have had two less positive experiences, where the restaurant made certificate redemption more complicated than was stated on the restaurant's certificate stipulations.  You might want to call the restaurant before purchasing the certificate to find out if they have added any additional restrictions to its use.
